Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport, Inc. provides free basic literacy instruction through GED certification and life skills training to more than 450 low-income, under-educated women from more than 50 countries. The Center uses a holistic approach within a compassionate, supportive environment, without regard for race, religion, color or creed.

For the position of the Assistant Director, (A.D.) we seek a unique individual with a passion for helping poor and illiterate women.

The A.D. will be responsible for the design and implementation of the curriculum and the supervision of the teaching staff. Reporting directly to the President, the A.D. will also assist in employee, volunteer and student relations; work with the community and assist with public relations. In the absence of the President, the A.D. will assume all daily operations of the Center.

Qualifications for the position:

- CT teacher certification required; Masters degree preferred;
- Bilingual (Spanish) required;
- A minimum of three to five years experience in an education-related community based organization or school;
- Strong organizational skills; detail orientation;
- Collaborative work style;
- Documented experience with other cultures and marginalized communities.
